ACTING MINISTER P.VAITIEKŪNAS AND THE AMBASSADORS OF THE EU-MEMBER STATES DISCUSSED LITHUANIAN AND EUROPEAN FOREIGN POLICY ISSUES

On 20 November, Acting Lithuanian Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekūnas met with European Union member-states ambassadors to Lithuania. The meeting took place in the Embassy of France, who is currently presiding at the EU.

P. Vaitiekūnas and the ambassadors discussed the key issues of international policy, reviewed the Lithuanian and EU’s foreign policy achievements. Minister shared his insights on further solution of the most important foreign policy issues.

P.Vaitiekūnas was glad about the active French presidency of the EU, and expressed hope that the entry into force process of the Treaty of Lisbon will end in success. The Minister reviewed the difficult energy situation in Lithuania. Great attention was paid to discussion of the situation in Georgia and the perspective of the EU's relations with Russia.
