A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN LITHUANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY AND THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE OF VILNIUS UNIVERSITY WAS SIGNED

On 9 November Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas signed a cooperation agreement between Lithuanian Foreign Ministry and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University. Foreign Minister Vaitiekūnas was glad to notice that this agreement would enhance cooperation started in 2001 between the Ministry and the Institute.

“It is very important that today about one hundred of Foreign Ministry employees are the Institute of International Relations and Political Science graduates and that we implement joint projects like the magazine ‘Lithuanian Foreign Policy Review’ published in English and the opening of the Eastern Europe Studies Centre,” Foreign Minister said.

The agreement states that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue assisting the Institute in education of international relations specialists – students of the Institute may have practical training at the Ministry.

The Ministry and the Institute will cooperate in education of specialists for effective representation of Lithuania in the European Union, especially in view of preparations for Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU in 2013. The Institute together with the Ministry will implement joint projects pursuing Lithuanian foreign policy goals.

Lithuanian Foreign Ministry plans to sign similar cooperation agreements with other high schools of Lithuania.
