A CONSULATE HEADED BY HONORARY CONSUL OF LITHUANIA WAS OPENED IN VIENNA
On 3 October a Consulate headed by Honorary Consul of Lithuania Raoul Peter Kauffler was opened in the consular district of Vienna Federal City, Austria.
“I trust that the new Consulate headed by Honorary Consul R.P.Kauffler together with consulates in Salzburg and Linz will enrich bilateral relations between Lithuania and Austria, and will build bridges for the development of economic and cultural relations and will promote direct communication of Lithuanian and Austrian citizens,’ Lithuanian Ambassador to Austria Giedrius Puodžiūnas indicated during the opening ceremony.
This, according to the Ambassador, is especially important because the year of 2009 is approaching, when Lithuania will celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Statehood and the capital city Vilnius will become European Capital of Culture together with Linz, the capital of the federal state Upper Austria.
Medical doctor of Lithuanian origin R.P.Kauffler indicated during the opening ceremony that he was determined to contribute to a better mutual acquaintance of Austria and Lithuania and their people.
