Diplomatic relations:
On 28 August 1991, New Zealand recognized Lithuania de jure.
Diplomatic relations were established on 10 January 1992.
From 2009 to 2011, Dainius Petras Kamaitis served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to New Zealand (resided in Japan).
From 1992 to 1994, Gerald McGhie served as the first Ambassador of New Zealand to Lithuania (resided in Russia).
