Diplomatic relations:
Malaysia recognized Lithuania de jure on 11 September 1991.
Diplomatic relations were established on 9 March 1994.
From 2003 to 2006, Dainius Ginutis Voveris served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to Malaysia (resided in Lithuania).
From 1994 to 1995, Mohamed Haron served as the first Ambassador of Malaysia to Lithuania (resided in Russia).
