Diplomatic relations:
India recognized Lithuania de jure on 9 September 1991.
Diplomatic relations were established on 27 April 1992.
From 2011 to 2012, Petras Šimeliūnas served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to India.
From 1992 to 1994, Jagannath Doddamani served as the first Ambassador of India to Lithuania (resided in Poland).
