Lithuania recognized Estonia de jure on 2 March 1921.
Estonia recognized the re-established independent State of Lithuania on 27 August 1991.
Diplomatic relations were established on 5 October 1991.
In 1991, Chargé d’Affaires Sigitas Kudarauskas served as the first Lithuanian representative to Estonia after the re-establishment of independence.
From 1990 to 1991, the representative of the Government Martas Tarmakas served as the first representative of Estonia to Lithuania.
