Diplomatic relations:
Bangladesh recognized the independent state of Lithuania de jure on 7 September 1991.
Diplomatic relations were established on 2 November 1992.
From 2011 to 2012, Petras Šimeliūnas served as the first Ambassador of Lithuania to Bangladesh (resided in India).
From 1997 to 1999, Mostafa Faruque Mohammed served as the first Ambassador of Bangladesh to Lithuania (resided in Russia).

Lithuania is represented from the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of India, People's Republic of Bangladesh, Nepal and Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
