Landsbergis receives the Transatlantic Leadership Award in Washington, D.C.
In Washington, D.C., the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, received an award for his continued mobilisation of support for Ukraine and transatlantic leadership. The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), one of the leading think tanks for policy analysis in the U.S., also honoured Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska, Vladimir Kara-Murza, and three members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Michael Mc Caul, Mike Turner, and Mike Rogers, for their strong contribution to the announcement of the U.S. assistance package for Ukraine.
"Putin's imperial ambitions and activity methods have not changed for decades, nor has the naivety of some in the West. The only appropriate response to the Kremlin's aggression is for us to be even more united and militarily supportive of Ukraine's victory. I hope that Ukraine's infinite courage and the generosity of the United States will help Ukraine to win," said Landsbergis as he received the award.
Previous recipients of the CEPA Transatlantic Leadership Award include NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the Prime Ministers of Lithuania, Poland, Estonia and Latvia - Ingrida Šimonytė, Mateusz Morawiecki, Kaja Kallas and Krišjānis Kariņš - as well as the U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell and Roger Wicker.
Following the award ceremony, Minister Landsbergis and Alina Polyakova, CEO of CEPA, discussed security challenges.
The award ceremony was attended by former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Vladimir Kara-Murza, renowned journalist Edward Lucas, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and representatives of the U.S. academic community.
