Intensive political consultations on reducing illegal migration flows to take place in Ankara and Baghdad
On 13 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, together with the Chancellor of the Government Giedrė Balčytytė and the Vice-Minister of the Interior Arnoldas Abramavičius, left for Ankara to meet with Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Minister of the Interior Süleyman Soylu. During the visit, joint actions to prevent the Belarusian regime's hybrid war activities against Lithuania, where illegal migration is used as a weapon, will be discussed.
In Ankara, Landsbergis and his delegation will continue holding intensive bilateral consultations to harmonise the modalities of close cooperation between the two countries. The purpose is to effectively stop the flow of illegal migrants from Belarus to Lithuania.
Later, Landsbergis will visit Baghdad, Iraq, where he will discuss possibilities for cooperation on illegal migration with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
