On 21 March in London, Lithuanian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė presented letters of credence to Queen Elizabeth II.
The Lithuanian Ambassador used the occasion to remind Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that the Lithuanian diplomatic mission was established in London in 1919 and thanked the United Kingdom for not recognizing the incorporation of Lithuania into the Soviet Union during the years of occupation from 1940 to 1990.
They also discussed the successful visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Lithuania in 2006, Lithuania’s preparations for the Presidency of the EU Council, and significant contribution of the Lithuanian community to the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and education. |
