On 24 September in New York, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis, who is participating in the 67th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations with the delegation led by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, met with representatives of Uganda, Ecuador, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to discuss possibilities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
At the meeting with Henry Oryem Okello, Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Lithuanian Foreign Minister discussed ways to benefit from the diplomatic relations, established this year, and to advance bilateral and multilateral cooperation of Lithuania and Uganda.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister proposed to develop bilateral cooperation in the political and cultural spheres. As Lithuanian entrepreneurs take an increasing interest in opportunities of doing business in Africa, the Ministers discussed also the perspective for the development of economic and business partnership.
During the meeting with Douglas Slater, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ažubalis discussed closer cooperation in the United Nations.
The meeting with Ecuadorian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Marco Albuja Martínez focused on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania this South African country. On this occasion, an exhibition about the Latin American people and their lives was organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania
During all the bilateral meetings, particular attention was paid to strengthening partnerships and bilateral support in the United Nations. |
