On 28 January, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius sent a letter of condolence to Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota over a fire that killed more than two hundred people in Santa Maria city.
“On behalf of myself and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania I would like to express sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and the people of the Federal Republic of Brazil. Lithuania shares the grief of the Brazilian nation and hopes for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident,” the Minister’s letter reads.
A nightclub fire killed more than 240 people on 27 January in southern Brazil. The Federal Republic of Brazil has announced national mourning.
