Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, who was paying a working visit to Chişinău on 1 March, called on Moldovan authorities to focus on achieving such key strategic goal and interest of the state, as Moldova’s European integration and the implementation of reforms. The Minister also assured that Lithuania would continue to support the country’s closer political association and deeper economic integration with the European Union.
During the visit, Linkevičius held meetings with the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, the Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova of Iurie Leancă, the Speaker of the Parliament Marian Lupu, and the leader of Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu.
The meetings discussed bilateral issues and Moldova’s EU integration agenda in a context of Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of this year and of the Eastern Partnership Summit, which will be held this November.
