On September 6, Vilnius hosted a meeting of Directors of Consular Affairs Departments of Foreign Ministries of the Baltic and Benelux countries, which discussed possibilities for closer cooperation in the consular field and results of the joint activities.
During the consultations, the officials also shared views on further increasing efficiency of a wide range of consular activities and enhancing their accessibility for citizens through cooperation and representation mechanisms.
Lithuania is actively cooperating with the Baltic and Benelux countries in the consular field - five international agreements with these countries on consular assistance and on representation in Schengen visa issuance are concluded.
The consular consultations of the Baltic and Benelux countries took place for the fourth time. The first meetings were held in 2011 and early 2012 in the Netherlands and Belgium. |
