On 25 October, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis congratulated, in a telephone conversation, newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze and discussed with her prospects for further cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister wished the Georgian counterpart every success in her responsible work and expressed his conviction that the change of Government in Georgia would not affect the particularly warm and friendly relationship between the two countries and their people.
Ažubalis also expressed his support to Georgia’s goals of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and ensured that Lithuania remained ready to assist Georgia in carrying out the necessary reforms.
The Minister stressed that Lithuania and Georgia had a perfectly functioning instrument of bilateral cooperation –European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Commission on the level of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which held sessions at the end of each year. Head of the Lithuanian diplomacy pointed out that the purpose of this Commission was to help Georgia achieve its objectives and called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia to start planning this year’s session. |
