On 18 February, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius is attending the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
The Council discusses the situations in Syria, Iraq and Mali, as well as the Middle East peace process. The discussion of ministers on further development of the Eastern Partnership will be continued at the Eastern Partnership Summit, which is due in Vilnius on November 28-29.
The Foreign Affairs Council may adopt conclusions on the situations in Syria and Mali, the Eastern Partnership, as well as on other issues regarding Kosovo, North Korea, the EU priorities for the UN Human Rights Council, and the extension of the EU sanctions against Zimbabwe.
Prior to the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, Linkevičius is meeting with ministers of NB6 countries (Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark). Later that day, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister will participate in the Northern Dimension Ministerial Meeting, which will be attended by the Ministers of EU, Russia, Norway, and Iceland. |
