On 25 January, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius and Avigdor Liberman, the member of the Knesset and former Israeli Foreign Minister, opened Israel’s second Honorary Consulate in Lithuania. Mikhail Rositsan, President of International Display Works, is appointed as the second Honorary Consul of Israel in Lithuania.
When speaking about strengthening ties between Lithuania and Israel, Leškevičius noted that Israel was Lithuania’s very important partner and friend in the Middle East. According to the Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister, the two countries are successfully expanding their bilateral cooperation.
The Vice-Minister stressed that the bilateral economic cooperation between Lithuania and Israel was showing a tendency of growing and expressed hope that the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Israel, who had accumulated great experience in the field of business, would help to promote economic and cultural relations between the two countries, as well as people-to-people contacts.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the Knesset, the Government and the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania, Ambassadors who reside in Lithuania and representatives of the Lithuanian Jewish Community, entrepreneurs, and famous public figures.
The first Honorary Consulate of Israel was opened in 2011 in Vilnius. |
