Lithuania joins this PSI Statement in confirmation of its support to the enforcement of the UN Security Council Resolutions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), reiterating joint commitment of the PSI Partners to upholding the commitments enshrined in the Statement of Interdiction Principles and postured to help enforce UNSCRs 2375 and 2397, in accordance with national and international legal authorities.
Proliferation Security Initiative is a global effort that aims to stop trafficking of weapons of mass destruction, their delivery systems, and related materials to and from states and non-state actors of proliferation concern. Launched on May 31, 2003, PSI represents a commitment by participating countries to proactively enforce their own existing national laws to intercept threatening trade passing through their territories, where they have the jurisdiction to act. To date, Lithuania is among 105 countries to have endorsed the PSI.
