Lithuania opens a new Honorary Consulate in the Italian region of Abruzzo
Lithuania's Honorary Consul Maurizio Cocciolito took office in Teramo, Italy. His consular district includes the Italian region of Abruzzo.
Cocciolito is a pianist, composer and lecturer, artistic director of one of the most prestigious chamber orchestras in Italy - I Solisti Aquilani, lecturer at L'Aquila Alfredo Casella State Conservatory, President and Artistic Director of the Teramo Music-Theatre Society.
Cocciolito is the Artistic Director of the I Solisti Aquilani association that organises concerts in foreign countries, including Lithuania. He has also been a member of the Board of the Feel like Theater association since 2007, member of the International Institute of the Mediterranean Theatre since 2009, and founder of the Italian branch. Since 2010, Cocciolito has served as the Director of the Italian National Music Committee.
The opening of the new Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Teramo will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Lithuania and Italy, economic and cultural cooperation with the Abruzzo region, and to the provision of support and consular assistance to Lithuanian citizens and to the local Lithuanian community.
There are nine Honorary Consulates of Lithuania in Italy. Honorary Consuls are Italian citizens. They are appointed by the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and work to protect the interests of the citizens of Lithuania on a voluntary basis.
