On 2 April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius took part in a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers by secure videoconference for the first time in the Alliance’s history. The meeting discussed the Alliance’s response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, situation in Iraq and Afghanistan, NATO’s role in the Middle East and North Africa region. NATO Ministers also exchanged their views on Russia, arms control, and relations with partners.

All European Union Member States and institutions do their utmost to address COVID-19 challenges. However, these efforts must not undermine the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights.

On 31 March, an aircraft of Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways landed at Kaunas airport with 111 citizens returning to Lithuania from Vietnam and Thailand thanks to the efforts of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Lithuania in China, and the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Vietnam Nguyen The Kien.

On 24 March, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zanavičius participated in a video conference of Ministers for European Affairs. Ministers discussed the EU’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as exchanged views on the enlargement and association process, focusing on Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia.

On 23 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius participated in a video conference of the EU Foreign Affairs Ministers, who exchanged views on the international response to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) with a particular focus on the repatriation of EU travelers stranded abroad. Foreign Ministers also discussed how to step up international cooperation  in order to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Foreign Ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and the State Secretary of Norway discussed over the video conference today the response to the situation caused by the spread of COVID-19 corona virus.

On 11 March Linas Linkevičius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with Philip Thomas Reeker, the United States of America Assistant Secretary of State, where they discussed relevant issues of transatlantic cooperation and regional security including partner efforts in countering disinformation and attempts to rewrite history.

On 10 March, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Restoration of the Independence of Lithuania, Vilnius held the Bucharest Nine (B9) meeting of the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. Delegates from the United States of America and NATO attended the meeting as guests. Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania, greeted the participants in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.

On 8 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius visited Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, met with Ministers and officially opened the Lithuanian Embassy in the UAE.

Having gathered in Vilnius on 5–6 March, experts in various fields appealed to the international community and urged it to provide traumatised societies with means to heal their wounds.

Lithuania welcomes the start of the criminal trial on the 9th of March against the four suspects, who are facing criminal charges in the downing of Flight MH17 over the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

On 6 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended the Extraordinary Meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Zagreb, Croatia. The meeting that was organized upon the request of Greece focused  on the humanitarian crisis in Syria, the eruption of tensions along Greece's land border with Turkey, and a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

On 10 and 11 March, the Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Romania, Poland, Slovakia, and Bulgaria will take part in the Bucharest 9 meeting in Vilnius. The event will also be attended by special guests: the U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State and NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning.

On 5 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended the informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers (Gymnich) in Zagreb, which focused on the EU’s common policy towards Russia.
